The Kyneton District Health Service is a public hospital with 26 overnight acute beds and 6 day stay beds, 3 chair dialysis service and a 30 bed Nursing Home. The Hospital also provides an Outreach Service encompassing District Nursing, Palliative Care, Hospital in the Home and Post Acute Care.
Kyneton township is situated in rural Victoria on the Calder Highway about 80 kilometres north of Melbourne. The provincial cities of Bendigo and Ballarat are within easy driving distance.
Located within the Macedon Ranges Shire, the Kyneton District Health Service provides services to an estimated population of 30,000 people who live in the districts of Kyneton, Woodend, Newham, Lancefield, Romsey, Metcalfe and Gisborne.
The Kyneton District Health Service is managed by a Board of Management appointed by the Minister for Health. We receive funding from the Department of Human Services for our Acute and Outreach Services and from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care and the Department of Human Services for our Nursing Home.
The Kyneton District Health Service has a long and proud history in service to the people of Kyneton and surrounding districts. The new hospital has been operational from May 2003 and officially opened by the Acting State Premier and Health Minister on the 25th June, 2003.
