On Wednesday 26 September 2018 between 9am and 12noon, Kyneton District Health will host a thought provoking information session on ‘Dementia and the Dignity of Risk’.

The session will begin with a screening of ‘Dignity of Risk’, a 15min short film/documentary featuring an encounter between Prof Joe and a patient, Mr Jones, who has recently been diagnosed with dementia. The film raises questions relating to protecting Mr Jones from harm vs intruding on his enjoyment and quality of life.

Gerontologist Professor Joseph E Ibrahim (Prof Joe) will then speak about the film and his research on improving the lives of persons with dementia and reducing harm to older persons living in Residential Aged Care.

This will be followed by a presentation from Coroner Audrey Jamieson from the Coroners Court of Victoria who will speak on the Public Health factors associated with dementia and cognitive impairment.

This session will be hosted in the Ambulatory Care Centre at Kyneton District Health and light refreshments will be available.

Tickets for the event are $15.00 per person.
