Visiting Hours

Hospital Visiting Hours
Hospital visiting hours are between 11.00am and 8.00pm daily.
Midwifery visits are from 2:00pm - 8:00pm daily
Meals can be arranged for visitors by the nursing staff at a small fee.

Nursing Home Visiting Hours
Nursing Home visiting hours are informal but preferably between 9.30am and 8.30pm.
Other visiting times and outings with residents of the Home can be arranged by contacting the Nursing Home Manager, Catherine Bermingham on (03) 5422 9910.
Meals can be arranged for visitors by the nursing staff at a small fee.

Before You Arrive

Your booking will be arranged by your doctor. However, please attend to the following matters prior to your admission.

Prior to being admitted, you will be provided with an Inpatient Pre-Admission/Admission Form to complete. Upon completion, please post, fax or deliver to the Receptionist of the Kyneton District Health Service. If unable to do this, please telephone your details to (03) 5422 9900. This will avoid delays on the day of your admission.

If you have private insurance, ensure your health insurance fund membership is up-to-date and bring details with you. If you are in any doubt as to which benefits may apply discuss your planned hospitalisation with your health insurance fund.

Check with your doctor or our Receptionist as to the required arrival time at the Kyneton District Health Service on the day of admission.

What To Bring With You

- Comfortable bed attire
- Slippers / footwear
- Personal Toiletries
- Small amount of cash for incidental purchases
- Doctor's letter
- Health insurance book or verfication
- Any pharmaceutical entitlement cards
- Current medications in their original containers/packets, and repeat prescriptions
- Medicare card / pension card
- Relevant x-rays, CT or MRI scans

Consent

The Kyneton District Health Service requires you to complete and sign a general consent to treatment and if appropriate a specific consent relating to an operation or procedure.

Your doctor is required to give you an explanation of proposed treatment, operation or procedure and before you sign the consent form you must be sure you fully understand the proposed treatment, operation or procedure.

When You Arrive

Report to Reception where a Patient Services Clerk will be informed of your arrival.

The Patient Services Clerk will assist you with completion of admission forms and is also available to discuss matters of health insurance, account payment procedures and general hospital information. If you wish to save time on the day of admission, you can telephone the hospital and make an appointment to complete admission forms a couple of days prior to your admission.

The Patient Services Clerk will then advise the Nursing staff of your arrival.

The Nursing staff provide daily assistance with treatment and care and will advise on services available within the Hospital, including home care, allied health, palliative care, etc.

A Patient Satisfaction Survey is located in the locker beside each bed for patients to provide comments about the service they received whilst a patient with the Kyneton District Health Service.

Please ask should you have any special needs or questions.

Please note that it is not always possible to provide a single room on admission for private patients.

During Your Stay

The Nursing staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your care during your stay.

enus are provided to patients each day by the Hotel Services staff. If you have any special dietary requirements, please speak with the Nursing staff.

When You are Discharged

On the day of your discharge, your doctor and nursing staff will explain how to care for yourself when you return home. You will also be advised of your post-discharge appointment with your doctor.

The Hospital Pharmacist will discuss any medications you may be required to use when you return home.

The nursing staff in charge of your care will escort you to reception to complete your discharge documentation and will help with any arrangements for you to travel home.
