About the Hospital

The Kyneton Distict Health Service is a public hospital and is an incorporated body listed under Schedule 1 of the Health Services Act 1988.

The responsible Minister is the Honorable Bronwyn Pike M.P.
The management of Kyneton District Health Service is governed by the Board of Management which directs all the affairs of the hospital, subject to the Health Services Act 1998, other relevant Acts and Regulations and the Hospital By-laws.  The Board meets on a regular basis and is supported in its decision making by the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Staff, and a number of sub-committees which present reports and recommendations for its consideration.

The objectives of the Board are:

To organise for and provide health care services in the Kyneton district, and in particular hospital based services, including regional services and services provided jointly with other agencies in accordance with the Health Services Act 1988 and other relevant Acts and Regulations.

To utilise appropriate physical and personnel resources, knowledge and technologies available to promote health and to prevent, treat and alleviate disease, injury and suffering so far as possible in the prevailing conditons.

To set and achieve standards consistent with prevailing principles of quality patient care and community health needs.

To foster continuing improvement in standards through education, research and training.
